Three Coleytown fifth graders were selected to play in Hartford with the Connecticut Music Educators Elementary Honors Orchestra.  The students played a beautiful concert with peers from around the state.

March is Women's History Month and the CES community celebrated in a variety of ways.  A school goal was to recognize and amplify the voices of women, both past and present, and celebrate their diverse experiences and accomplishments.

Coleytown Elementary teachers met with a team from Westport EMS for their Stop the Bleed program.  This is an emergency response program that trains people to respond to a life-threatening event.  Thank you to Westport EMS for helping train our CES teachers!

On Friday, March 8, the CES community enjoyed an afternoon of CES Learns!  Staff members and parents taught a wide variety of classes, such as:  Introduction to Baking, Creating Collage, Abstract Painting, Lacrosse Basics, Engineering, Making Slime, Creating Memory Books, and many more!  Students chose which class they wanted to attend for the afternoon. CES Learns is a wonderful opportunity for the students to work with other students across multiple grade levels, work with new staff members and parents, and learn something new!

To celebrate the end of Black History Month and the start of Women's History Month and Music in Our Schools Month, the CES community enjoyed an assembly from Carla & Keyes.  Black Women of the American Songbook was a musical experience for the students to learn about famous jazz singers throughout history.  Students enjoyed listening to and performing music from various artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Sarah Vaughan.

On February 6, Student Leadership Council members treated bus drivers to coffee and treats.  We are so appreciative of our bus drivers!
